(January 27, 2011 – Washington, D.C.) – In response to Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa’s (R-Calif.) recent call for ideas and opinions from job creators across the nation, the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative (SSIGI) sent a letter urging consideration of the anticipated 30,000 or more jobs that could be created through the federal regulation of Internet gambling activity. Rep. Issa is collecting the thoughts of business leaders at AmericanJobCreators.com.
Michael Waxman, spokesperson for SSIGI, said, “In addition to providing important protections to consumers, legalizing and regulating Internet gambling activity in the US has tremendous potential to create jobs and generate billions in new tax revenue and gross economic expenditures. We certainly hope that Rep. Issa will fully consider this opportunity and bring it to the attention of his fellow members in Congress.”
