This past week, Frank picked up four new co-sponsors for his latest online gambling Bill. The list now has been run up to fifty-eight co-sponsors. Representative Frank has said that he will bring the Internet gambling debate to the forefront in Congress in the Fall, and it looks as though he will have plenty of support by then. The latest representatives to join the online gambling crusade are Rep. Lynn C. Woolsey of California, Rep. Christopher S. Murphy of Connecticut, Rep. William Lacy Clay of Missouri, and Rep. Adam B. Schiff of California. The UIGEA has come to the forefront recently with bank accounts being seized by authorities in the US. The accounts have been connected to payouts for US online casino customers. The most recent of these accounts have been linked to Golden Casino, a prominent online casino with a strong reputation. Rep. Frank has previously attempted to have the UIGEA overturned, but he was turned away by a Republican-led Congress last year. This year, with the Democrats having control and more Republicans realizing the need for change in the US Internet gambling policy. |
