To prevent abuse, protect consumers’ rights, gain needed new revenue, and end the failures of modern-day prohibition, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank has introduced the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (H.R. 2267). This urgently needed legislation would:

  • End Modern-Day Prohibition. Banning alcohol 80 years ago did not stop drinking — it just sent it underground, leaving Americans unprotected against fraud and underage abuse. Banning Internet gambling is similarly harmful.
  • Safeguard Against Compulsive Gambling. All licensed operators would be required to implement a comprehensive responsible gambling program, utilizing tools to enforce controls to limit the amount of money wagered or lost.
  • Protect Children. All licensed operators would be required to use state-of-the-art age verification technologies and other enforcement mechanisms to keep minors away.

Urge Congress to make Internet gambling safe and secure by passing the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act!
